The Talking Robot That Lives In A Speaker!
OK so listen this is SO cool. You can just talk to a little speaker thingy and it talks BACK to you!! Like for real!! Its called Alexa and you just say “Alexa” and then ask her anything you want. Like “Alexa whats the weather” and she TELLS YOU. Or “Alexa play my song” and she does it!! How does she even know!!?? I think theres a tiny person inside but my Uncle Adam said no its computers.
The best part is you can ask her jokes and she actually tells funny ones. Sometimes she makes mistakes and answers something totally different and its hilarious. You can also tell her to turn off the lights without getting up which is the BEST invention ever because I hate getting up. Also if I ask her math questions she gets them right every time which is not fair because I have to do my homework still.
Also did you know you can put Alexa on your iPad or iPhone or Android phone?? You just go to the Play Store or the App Store and download the Alexa app and BOOM she lives in your pocket now!! And the COOLEST part EVER is you can change her VOICE to a different one AND you can change her wake word too!! So instead of saying “Alexa” you can say “Echo” or “Amazon” or even “COMPUTER” like in Star Trek!! How cool is that!!

What Is Alexa?
Alexa is a voice assistant made by Amazon. She lives inside smart speakers called Echo devices (and lots of other gadgets too). When you say her name, the device wakes up and listens to your question. It sends your voice to giant computers far away (called the cloud), figures out what you said, finds an answer, and talks back to you — all in about a second!

How Does Alexa Actually Work?
- You say “Alexa”: The Echo is always listening for just that one word, called the wake word. It does this part right inside the speaker.
- Recording starts: Once it hears the wake word, it records the next thing you say and sends it over the internet to Amazon.
- Speech to text: Big computers turn the sound of your voice into written words.
- Understanding: Another program figures out what you actually meant — was it a song, a question, a smart home command?
- Finding an answer: Alexa looks up the answer or sends a command to the right place (Spotify, a light bulb, a weather service, etc.).
- Talking back: The answer gets turned back into speech and played out the Echo speaker — usually in less than a second!
