BMW is a company that makes cars (and motorcycles too!). The name is German. It stands for Bayerische Motoren Werke — that's a long way of saying "Bavarian Motor Works." Bavaria is a part of Germany, kind of like how Texas is a part of the United States.
BMW was born in a city called Munich, way back in 1916 — that's over 100 years ago!
BMW didn't always make cars. First it made airplane engines, then motorcycles!
People say BMWs are "fun to drive." They zip around corners like a go-kart.
Look at the round BMW badge. It has blue and white squares in a circle. A lot of people think it looks like a spinning airplane propeller in a blue sky — because BMW used to make airplane engines!
But here's the real secret: the blue and white are the colors of the flag of Bavaria, the home of BMW. So the badge is really a little way of saying "we're proud of where we come from."
Every BMW has two big holes at the front, side by side. People call it the "kidney grille" because it's shaped like two kidneys (the squishy beans inside your body that clean your blood!).
